A few days ahead of his official coronation, the king of Thailand has married his royal consort[1]. At a wedding ceremony in Bangkok on May 1, HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn married the lady who was previously the deputy commander of his personal security detail, General Suthida Vajiralongkorn Na Ayudhya. The king’s new wife has been bestowed the title of Queen Suthida.

HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn, 66, ascended to the throne following the death of his father[2] in 2016. He is the tenth king of the Chakri Dynasty[3] and is accorded the title Rama X[4].
