Nachiyar Kovil Lamps, Tanjore – TAMIL NADU TOURISM

The Nachiarkoil lamp, also known as the Annam lamp or Nachiarkoil Kuthuvilakku, is a handcrafted brass lamp with a succession of diyas. The hollow-cast lamp comes in a variety of sizes and is made up of four sections that are screwed together. The “prabhai,” or center pillar that tops the peak, is usually in the shape of a hamsa, or swan. The bowl of these lamps has five V-shaped spouts that hold cotton wicks and is filled with oil for lighting.
