TAT secures 12,000-pax Infinitus incentive group from China
Bangkok, 15 September 2019 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has secured a mega incentive group from Infinitus (China) for the ninth consecutive year, welcoming a total of 12,000 achievers to Thailand this year, up from 8,000 pax for last year.
The group is travelling to Thailand in four batches during 12-27 September, 2019. Each batch comprising 3,000 visitors will be spending on average six nights and seven days in Thailand.
During today’s arrival of the first batch, Mr. Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Asia and South Pacific, led a Thai delegation to extend a warm welcome to Infinitus’ executives and achievers at Suvarnabahumi Airport. The ceremony was eventful with rhythmic long drum dance and the presentation of fresh floral garlands – both represent traditional Thai welcoming gesture.
The itinerary for the 12,000 Infinitus’ incentive achievers this year will include Bangkok’s Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaeo and Chao Phraya River cruise; Pattaya’s Water Park and Nongnooch Tropical Garden; and Rayong’s fruit orchard. Trip for each group will conclude with a gala dinner at Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall.
H.E. Mr. Napintorn Srisunpang, Vice Minister for Tourism and Sports, is scheduled to chair the second gala event on 19 September, 2019, while Mr. Charun Ohnmee, TAT Deputy Governor for Policy and Planning to attend the third event on 21 September, 2019.
Mr. Chattan said, “The Thai government places great emphasis on facilitating travels from China, as evidenced by the recent decision to extend the visa-on-arrival fee waiver scheme for Chinese tourists until 30 April, 2020. And this ninth annual incentive trip of Infinitus will help strengthen the confidence in Thailand as a quality destination for Chinese travellers.”
In 2020, TAT expects the number of Chinese visitors to Thailand will surpass 11 million, representing a 4% increase year-on-year, and generating more than 500,000 million Baht revenue.
