Deep within the forest, about 45 km from Bhopal are the 750 rock shelters known to be dwelled by the early humans 100,000 years ago. The Bhimbetka rock shelters and cave paintings provide a peek into the lifestyle and culture of initial human settlement. Recently, the researchers have discovered fossils of the earliest known living animal i.e. the 550-million-year-old ‘Dickinsonia’.
