Tourism fair to lure global business travelers – Khmer Times
The international tourism fair Cambodia Travel Mart 2018 will hold its official launch in Phnom Penh on April 6.
The event, the second of its kind, aims to promote business arrivals in the country with the event being held from October 11 to 13.
Cambodia Travel Mart 2018 will be a place where local and international buyers, suppliers, trade professionals and media partners meet and exchange information on the latest tourism developments in Cambodia.
Its objective is to promote Cambodia and its regional tourism potential to the world by improving commercial relations in the tourism sector with international companies.
It aims also to create more package tours to Cambodia to maintain tourist growth in order to achieve the projected seven million inbound international tourists in 2020.
The exhibition was initiated by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with Slickbooth, an international exhibition firm with international experience.
Phoeurk Chamroeun sales and marketing manager of SlickBooth, said the exhibition would be co-organised by TTG Asia Media & Events from Singapore that specialises in prestigious international tourism fairs.
“CTM 2018 is an event for business travellers, companies, and national and international business service providers,” Ms Chamroeun said.
“Bigger than last year, we have expanded with more booths, more sellers, more buyers, more media and more activity networking programs,” she said.
“We are confident this year will be more successful than last year and it will get better from year to year. More countries plan to join this year as sellers.”
The event last year was held for the first time in Siem Reap city, bringing 3,000 participants to the Cambodia. She said there were 135 booths related to tourism.
Ho Vandy, president of World Express Tour and Travel Company, welcomed the tourism fair, saying that attending CTM was a must for Cambodian tour operators and travel agencies.
CTM was an ideal venue for buyers and sellers to meet and establish business relations, he added. The new exhibition could play a key role in bringing visitors into the country.
“It’s very important to join the event. It will show visitors what Cambodia has to offer. Sadly, many still view the country as a war-torn nation,” he said.
